
A celebration of his life will be held at Indiana Funeral Care and Crematory on October 29th beginning with visitation at 11am. Formal services will begin at 12pm and will be officiated by his dear friends, Jack Frick and Randy Montgomery.
Joe McKissick “Mac” Spears III, 68, of Indianapolis passed away peacefully on October 13th at Westminster Village North surrounded by family and friends. He was born on February 19, 1948 to Joe McKissick Jr. and Laura Nell (Carpenter) Spears in College Station, Texas. Among many accomplishments, he was President of the Student Union and a distinguished graduate from Texas A&M University, a First Lieutenant in the United States Army, an entrepreneur, and a devoted husband and father. His hobbies and interests included music, photography, travel, politics, tribal art, writing, his beloved Texas Aggies, and spending quality time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and wife, Linda Jo (Witham), and is survived by his children; Deanna M. (and Chris) Poe, Benjamin R. Miller, William B. Spears, Dean C. Behrendsen, and Sarah E. Miller; his brothers and sister-in-law; John M. (and Lindy) Spears and James M. Spears; six grandchildren; two nephews; and a large number of extended family and adoring friends. All of those fortunate enough to feel his presence in their lives will miss him greatly and love him, and the memories he created, unendingly.

Formal services will begin at 12 pm and will be officiated by his dear friends, Jack Frick and Randy Montgomery.
